GRNITECH 'PR' Beck's Pithole Creek Huck a Buck - Stud Dog Thursday

This week’s article highlights one of the more dominant studs in the English breed’s history, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Beck’s Pithole Creek Huck a Buck. Although Buck didn’t sire as many pups as some hounds in the breed, he sure threw quality hounds with the 3rd most titled hounds sired in the breed’s storied history. He was born back in November of 1995 out of a well-known litter that saw 3 of the 4 pups titled out including Buck, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Cabin Creek Rowdy, and NITECH ‘PR’ Cabin Creek Cobra. Between Buck and Rowdy, they sired over 1,400 pups with 165 of them being titled. Not bad for a couple littermates.

Buck himself didn’t waste anytime getting pups on the ground. His first litter hit the ground just shy of his 2nd birthday in September of 1997. The first litter that jumped off the page to me was born in May of 1999 out of a female named GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Lucky. Together they had 11 pups with 6 of them titling out. Those 6 were NITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Legend, GRNITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH ‘PR’ Eric’s All Grand Casper, CH ‘PR’ Oak Ridge Screaming Nickie, NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Boughton Timber Valley JJ, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Stylish Hannah, and GRFCH GRWCH GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Hanna.

In the year 2000 with Buck nearing his 5th birthday, he was really hitting his stride. That is evident by these next 3 litters I will mention. The first was born in January of 2000 out of GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ Rock Run’s Northridge Zee Zee and had 7 pups with 5 of them achieving a title. Those 5 were NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ B & K Backwoods Bandit, NITECH CH ‘PR’ All Out Jozee, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Thompson’s Wild Rose, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Thomas Cedar Ridge Rainbow, and FCH CH ‘PR’ Cedar Ridge Zena. A couple months later in March, ‘PR’ Hobson’s Briar Creek Suzy Q dropped a 7-pup litter that had 3 dogs title including GRCH NITECH ‘PR’ Byers’ Goodtime Scooby, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Judy, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Billie Jo. Finally in November of 2000 a 2nd and final litter out of the Buck X GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Lucky hit the ground with 5 of the 8 pups titling out including GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Max Million, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Briar Valley Nite Prowler, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Timber Cutter, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Cruise Control, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Honeycreek Rosebud.

Moving forward to February of 2002, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Ten had a litter of pups out of Buck that had 6 of the 8 title out. Those 6 were GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Zeb, NITECH ‘PR’ Cundiff’s Goin Broke Automatic, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Rat Poison, NITECH ‘PR’ Night Strike Barney, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Bee Ridge Quiet Slipper, and NITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Patches. Then in July of 2003, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Ten dropped another litter of Buck pups. This time all 6 of the pups titled out including GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Doctor Evil, NITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Mighty Mouse, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Triple D Red Jasmine, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Triple D Red Jewel, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Adkin’s Nite Candy, and GRCH ‘PR’ Adkins Nite Daisy.

Buck sired litters up until he was 12 years old with success. Let’s highlight a couple of his late life litters before we get into numbers and ancestry. In November of 2004, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Northridge Timber Valley Queen had an 11-pup litter that saw 6 of them title including CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Adkins’ Nite Lady, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Dillard’s White Oak Frosty, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Timber Valley Triple X, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Briar Creek Bandit, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Praters’ Invader, and GRWCH GRCH ‘PR’ White Reuben Timber Thrasher. Then in June of 2005 GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ M and C’s Diamond Rock dropped 9 Buck pups with 5 of them titling out. Those 5 were NITECH CH GRWCH ‘PR’ M and C’s After Dark Trailer HTX2, NITECH WCH ‘PR’ Soggy Bottom Lulu, NITECH WCH FCH CH ‘PR’ Merritt’s Crystal, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ O’Quinn Grace, and GRCH ‘PR’ D’Arco’ Give me a Chance SadeyMae.
