UKC Sponsored by Eukanuba Dog Feed, who feeds this? Is it better than Purina?

I don’t know any coon hunters that feed this. Who does and do they like it?

Iams/eukanuba

I started feeding iams 2 years ago, had used it in the past with good results.
First the fiest got sick and stopped eating, a week later same with the bluetick.
Did research and got on a forum on which reviews were ok until about 6 months before the date when i started feeding it.
After that date a lot complaints started showing up. I switched to purina. Dogs are fat, lots of energy to hunt, have not had any problems.

I have fed Iams for months at a time for several years and for several years I was pleased with the results but I feel Purina has a better product now.

Ive been feeding hounds for almost 30 years. If there is a better feed then Purina Pro Plan I haven't found it. Now to be fair what they charge for a bag it better be good. They are pretty proud of it.

Purina Pro Plan is not cheap. Lesson learned here is you pay for what you get. There is no doubt in my mind, and this statement has 50 years of feeding dogs behind it, You can not buy a better dog feed than Pro plan. You can only get more expensive ones. That doesn't mean they are better by any means. Most of the Vets around here recommend feeding PURINA.

Do a small research yourself. Look at when a new feed, or even an old one that changes something in their formula, they promote it by using the compare to Purina statement. Why compare? They just told you who they recognize as their own industries leader. I will Feed Purina. Hands down the overall best dog food you can buy at any price.

I have fed eukanuba for close to 2 years. It is as good as you would expect for the money. I have fed pro plan in the past and it’s a top feed also. I wouldn’t say one is better then the other for any certain reason , they are similar feeds in quality and price IMO. If you use either one of them for a six month period I think you’ll see a difference in your dog.

Sonny which Eukanuba feed do you feed that is similar to the Purina Pro Plan Performance?
On Chewy.com 28 pound Eukanuba Performance 30/20 is $70.67 equals $2.52 pound
On Chewy.com Purina Performance 30/20 “50” pound bag is $75.48 equals $1.50 pound.
Eukanuba is $1.02 more per pound than Purina I wouldn’t say they are comparable in price that’s a huge price difference. Question is, is it worth the $1.02 more a pound for the feed?

I feed the athlete formula mostly. I have fed the professional formula to certain dogs if they need some extra. I felt like I got very similar results from the athlete formula as I did the the pro plan.

Thank you for that information Sonny. I cannot find athlete in any titles of Eukanuba but the search took me to the Performance 30/20 and 26/18. Very similar to Purina Pro plan performance except Eukanuba is $1.02 more per pound.

26/18 and 30/28 are two I was speaking of. I don’t pay that much for it.

They are still trying to pay UKC for putting their name on things.

I have fed Pro Plan 30 20 since 1998 and see no reason to change.

Purina

It must be sitting somewhere a long time. My last two bags were like feeding bags of salt.

Purina pro plan nothing is close to comparing with it in my books. Others may disagree I been using purina 35 years switched a few times learned my lesson like the rest.
