Opossum breaking
What have you used that gets the best results?
Need one broke off of them
Possum
I have broke bad possum treeing dogs exactly like I break any other off game and that is by using a shocking collar. I shock them off possum trees and before you worry about ruining a dog to tree by doing this, Don't! If a dog is smart then they know the difference between a possum tree and a coon tree and if it's stupid you don't have much dog. Pet on coon trees, shock on possum trees, it definitely works. I can't stand walking to a bunch of possum trees in these mountains, so I definitely break them off possums. Dave

Bring a fresh dead possum home…with cattle prod or shocking collar on high…walk up to the dog in the kennel or staked out…from upwind so the pup or dog can smell the possum…you want the dog to fear even the smell of possum…just swing the possum back and forth…each time the grinner touches the pup give a shock…freeze the grinner and repeat procedure in about 3 or 4 days…
Again repeat a third time…by the third time just smelling the possum and he will try climbing out of the kennel in a panic…
Cast pup in the woods and if he comes out with his head and tail down he probably ran into mr. possum and he sure won’t want any dealings with him because he packs a mean punch…😳😁

I have broke some bad ones, when they tree one wearing a shocker, tie them up shoot it out let them take hold of the pos, shock them on a high setting if they go back for more keep hitting them with the shocker until they have had enough, then take the possum and whip the dog with it for a minute or so, (don’t lose your temper a possum used as a whipping tool can break ribs) not hard enough to hurt them but until they try to get away, then throw the possum on the dog when it touches the dog give him electric, repeat these steps 3/4 times until the dog wants to get away. Usually 5-10 mins! This method WORKS, the secret is make the dog think the possum is going to kill them, on very bad ones might take 2 times. If you have a dog already treeing coon and starts treeing possums one time will usually do it!! Do not do this to a pup that is not treeing or just starting to.

My thinking has always been, they won't tree em if they don't run em. I NEVER shoot out a possum to my dog and ALL my possum breaking is done away from trees. I've seen far too many dogs stay treed on a possum till they see your light then they find someplace else to be.
Why run the risk of creating a problem when you don't have too.
Show em a possum in the yard, in the kennel or in the dog box and send them a text message via tri-tronics before long when they smell one they'll go the other way.
I heard there’s a better way yet . Don’t wanna give the mans secret away . But it sounds good to me . Message me if you like .
