Questions on entering some big events / papers ?
Im curious as to what everyones take would be on entering the Grand American and Winter Classic with a dog ive owned for about a month. Ive been seriously hesitant on sending papers for fear of not getting the papers back in time for hunt entry deadlines with turnaround times being a few months on some peoples papers. Should i hunt the dog in previous owners name, can i do a conditional entry possibly ? What do you think ? Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks in advance !
What I always do is feel the back of the papers out transferring it to my name. Take a picture of front so u got all the dogs info an take a picture of the back an then mail them in an I enter the dog in my name. Majority of the time the transfer beats the hunt report getting their that way the win shows up in your name as the owner. Exspecially if u do this now an enter grand American or winter classic which is still a good ways in advance. I have never had a issue doing it this way. Cause it don’t mean much to a lot of people but to me it does if I win I want to see my name as owner not someone else name I want my credit for the win. Because remember u don’t have to have the papers in hand or entry card to enter anymore just a picture in your phone so if u don’t have the papers back in time it’s no big deal
I'd call or email Trevor at UKC and explain the situation. I'd say your best bet will be to enter in the previous owner's name and then take the papers with you to the Grand American and turn in the transfer of ownership there. You get free rush service (not mail, but UKC service) if you turn papers in to UKC at a major event. If you turn them in at the GA you'll have them in your hand before the Winter Classic and the entry will automatically update to your name when the dog is transferred.

I know it’s expensive but you can send papers in with tracking numbers and expedite the shipping you will have the papers back in 2 weeks or so or you can overnight them but the tracking numbers work well for me that away you can tell them what day they arrive
