Is there anyone finishing pups
Is anyone finishing pup? Pup is started just need finishing. What is the going rate for someone finishing a pup? What is the rate of getting one started? What it cost for a finish dog?
There is people on here that will hunt dogs for you I took my started dog to a guy in south Alabama yesterday that has a coon pen will evaluate him and work him in and outside the pen depending on what he thinks he needs it cost $150 a week plus feed seems high but if it works I’ll be thrilled as far as a finished hound there are many definitions to finished hound
Pleasure dog that will go out tree coons and a hunting style a man likes $2500 range I feel like is a fair price
Competition dog that compete just at a local level win a few cast here and there maybe take several years to nite or grand out somewhere similar price range 2500-4500
Really get after win local ukc hunts and a few larger pkc hunts consistently puts up coons under pressure 5000 and up range
Next level dogs which is big name pedigree big reproducers win big nation wide hunts 6500 entry fee hunts name ur price I think echo sold for 100000 and I have heard of people paying 20k and 30k for dogs
That was a honest response. I appreciate it
I hope that at least helps I don’t know much I’m trying to learn it myself I read a lot listen to a lot of pod cast and YouTube videos everything hush hush for some reason a lot of terms I don’t understand a lot of these hunts I don’t exactly know what how or who is qualified to hunt them not a lot of clear info out there wish some of these more seasoned guy would explain more when I was a youngster we just turned dogs loose and treed coons now it’s a completely different world
Yeah. I was looking for someone to finish a pup for me. Work schedule is hectic. I can't tell ya nothing about the competition world. There are a lot of good guys on here that are will help and will give you great advice. I think don't holded me to this but if you call ukc or pkc they will send you a rule book if that help.
Maybe best and less Expensive To Try couple older hounds and Buy What makes you happy. It can be a long ways and lots of headaches and Frustration dealing with folks and trying young dogs.. jmo
