Dog needs little weight

I have a dog that is active and high strung in kennel. He is hard to keep weight on never poor just could use a few more pounds especially since we are headed into winter. I feed more than recommended amount (and he always cleans his bowl) Tried pro plan, valu pal and victor can’t tell much difference. He is wormed out just got clean bill health from vet. I don’t wanna start adding a bunch this or that to his diet. But I have few questions and any experience is appreciate.

First I have been feeding him 2 eggs every day but I got thinking that the protein might be upping his metabolism?

Second had old dog man tell me few slices bread added to his feed each day will put weight on him??

Third what about putting a hound with big appetite on self feeder??

Weight On.....

Put a Can of Mackerel in his feed once or twice a Week.....should do the trick.
I had Hounds that couldn't keep weight on with even the High $$ Food.......Switch his Feed around until you find one that he does Good on & Keeps Weight On.
I had some Hounds that did Great on just Good Old Dog Chow compared to some Higher End Feeds

half can of mackerel and a (half size of tennis ball) of straight beef fat from your local slaughter plant/butcher shop.

and Put him in a smaller pen or shorten his chain.

Gentlemen I appreciate the advice but I was asking about the eggs possibly being to much protein and results with auto feeder or feeding bread. I’m not gonna start adding lot things to his diet being that he isn’t starving and I hate anything high maintenance woman, cars and dogs. The eggs and bread are always available without having to remind the wife to buy it at the store.

Put him on a self feeder hunt him hard and he will find his natural weight and it might still be a little thin.

Egg whites---

will tied up some very important minerals and vitamins that the dog will need and also the "chance" of Salmonella a possibility.

But your dog, do what you would like.

Dogs are a lot like people. They come in all sizes, some don’t gain weight no matter what you do, and some are always a little too round. As long as the dog has plenty of energy and is healthy, I wouldn’t worry too much.
