Dave,

was thinking of you and Ron last evening.. Took Ranger and a pup to Michigan last night for the opener.. Started on the same area we hunted last year.. Treed 7 singles, one double and saw five coons sitting up.. Knocked two out, one to the pup and one to Ranger..

Never heard or saw another dog until 11 pm when my buddy made it up.. His dog treed three before we parted company at about 1:30am

Incredible difference in the moon cycle.. Leaves still sucked, but the coons were moving incredibly well..

Me and Old Ranger are both moving a bit slow today, gonna finish cleaning up the garden and it's time for a nap!!

Give my best to Ron and his nephew.

Thanks for the update, sound like a great hunt, that moon makes a difference that's for sure. We sure would of enjoyed being up there and hunting with you and Ranger, but Ron's son is sick and we are stuck hunting close to home. Sounds like Ranger is doing great, how is you pup doing? We would love to come up in November and hunt a few nights with you if every thing works out. I am getting cataract surgery on Oct 30 and Nov 3, 2 weeks apart and should be good to go after Indiania season opens. It was great to hear from you, you are the only other man that I have ever met that likes coon hunting as much as Ron does. You are tough as a pine knot. Dave

Dave,

Sorry to hear Ron’s son is not well. Good news on the cataract surgery! You all are welcome any time.

Ranger is doing fine and I’ve got a 9 month old pup that has treed a few times and is starting nicely.

Age is really catching up to me. Had to have my left foot rebuilt in August and I’ve just started seriously hunting again this week.

Hoping to take the old man to the PKC world hunt and make a run. I feel about as tough as a marshmallow and about the same consistency lol. But we are going to do what we can while we can. Been blessed with health and life. Can’t ask for anything else.

Stay well

Thank you for the invitation, I sure hope that Ron and I can get up there sometime, I love hunting in that flat ground as both Ron and I are both are getting crippled up with bad knees. I hope you do good at the PKC World Hunt, Ranger can sure tree those coons. We will be pulling for you and Ranger. I relayed your message to Ron and he was very pleased with your comments. Ron has been a tough old bird but age is catching up on him, it's sad for me to see the desire he has for coon hunting to be compromised by his health. Dave
