Am I the only one ?
Am I the only one that noticed a lack of vendors at oaks ? Looked like you could have almost fit everyone in one building. On top of that charging for everyone instead of by the family like the past. Buy the time I paid for admission for everyone to only see half a show I could have paid shipping on the stuff we bought and saved a fortune. Might not be the nail in the coffin, but the undertaker has got the tape measure out.
yep I noticed the greed. As far as vendors each person has to consider their risk level. The thing I noticed the worst was crossing the road. Someone will get killed. I saw 3 cars have to lock up to keep from hitting stopped traffic. All for a $5.00 bill.
Kenton went this way. After admittance hit I think $15.00 I never attended again.
I come with the intention of spending some money on needed supplies and family time. I buy food, usually buy from multiple vendors. Drop a few buck on a raffle or 2 especially raffles supporting youth. Not sure I will attend again.
I hope someone from the city council of Richmond notices this post!!

I think we need to accept the days of a huge "vendor show" are over. The internet changed shopping.... accept it.
I don't know what the entry fees were- I wasn't there. But if it was $5 per person... that is dirt cheap. Even at $25 for a family of five... it is dirt cheap.
I would pay $10, but would also hope they tie that entry ticket into a drawing for something.
Just my thoughts.

We arrived Tuesday at noon left Sunday at noon. Had a great time all week. Cost us $60.00 to camp then a $10.00 per vehicle pass. Which in my mind was very reasonable and well worth the money.
As far as Vendors. I thought they had a GREAT display. We found every thing and more that was on our list. And yes we did buy from several different vendors. We compared prices and bought same item at cheapest priced vendor. Dollar here 5 dollars there all added up. We purchased over $2000.00 worth of hunting gear. So for us to pay the shipping it would have been several $100s more. So you see we know OAKS is the place for us to buy. We also enjoy the FREE entertainment all week. If you can't strike up a good conversation with some of the 100s of coonhunters there has to be something wrong.
I understand everyone goes to OAKs for different reasons. This is our vacation. We go to have a GREAT time and to save some money on supplies. And TALK hounds and hunting.
Now maybe there was room for more vendors and maybe some had to back out. Maybe they could have all fit in 1 building. In this world you will have the maybe's the could have's. When you get to that coffin you mentioned there will be no more maybe's or could have's.
So to close the way I see it everyone has different opinions of different things/events. So my opinion is A Os was great. Oh yea bout forgot I don't attend ball games I think they charge to much at the gate.
Have a Great Day

Agreed . In years past have had to always park way out un back of lit but this year was able to park right next to road . Not only were the vendors short but people visiting was short also. I know what I was looking for so didn't have to stop at the few vendors that were there but could have litteraly walked through and seen not stopped by but saw every vendor and desk set up in 30 min. My child was wanting to join up to the English breeders but no one was ever at desk it was a shame that it is going down hill . Not sure the trip is worth the money any more. Like other post could save time and money on ordering online and now that no one wants to be out and in crowds there is really no point in being there

I have attended Autumn Oaks 33 of the last 36 years. Its is a SUPER event. I know my buddy Bruce Conkey could not attend this year but I did not notice lower vendor numbers. For the most part all of the folks who usually attend were there along with a few new ones. Dadgum COVID concerns contribute to some dealers and spectators showing but I thought the dealer numbers and crowd numbers were excellent considering what is going on in the world today.
Yes it costs money to attend....go t a local high school football or basketball game and see if you get out any cheaper.
Great job again UKC staff!

Are you kidding me!! Just 5.00 dollars for gate charge sounds very reasonable for me camping sounds pretty reasonable also the young man wanting to join the English assn. can contact someone or hopefully they see this and contact him
I know in advanced what it costs to go to a ball game, I don't go. If I did go and they raised the admission 800 percent and after I paid , I find out only one team showed up I would be a little up set. I understand the covid thing and respect everyones disicion to go or not. The point I am making less vendors and charging more with out posting anything on there web site. I brought the family with a budget. The money we paid extra at the gate would have went to the vendors.
You think it's free to get that fairground? Stay home next year
Tough year on vendors with probably some tough times coming..We stocked about absolutely everything we could at our booth and I looked at some other guys stuff that looked well stocked..One light vendor had merged into another company and some might even have left mid event but all in all I think this is the wave of the future..I know some vendors that didn't feel like they had enough product to set up but they should have..Alot of obstacles in this business..Hope we have another 50 years of Oaks but the way the world is today but you better enjoy the ones we do have.

I thought it was a pretty good turnout! Hunt numbers were good and there were a lot of campers! I talked to the guys that had been running the gate campers come through early in the week and they said they had over a 160 early come through compared to around an average of 120 they weren't sure how many more came in after for weekend free camping but quite a few more. The big winner for the weekend as far as vendors go was the ice cream stand. Their line was continuous for days!
Crowds were great Friday and Saturday. I ran a booth peddling the boys squallers (Tyler Compton and Lane Denny, Teir 1 Custom Calls) and by Friday night had only a handful left so I didn't open it on Saturday instead I enjoyed the Oaks experience cruising on a golf cart and visiting with friends.

Like several above said, I’d didn’t really notice any decrease in vendors or people, but I don’t focus on the negative side of things so I doubt I would have noticed anyhow. I was just glad to be there and happy that Covid didn’t take it away from us again this year. We pulled the camper and stayed all week, and had a blast.

Dave, I appreciate it, and I’m always glad to help. Your right a lot goes into these to pull them off, UKC staff has some sleepless nights, guides, host/satellite clubs and many more behind the scenes. If there was just 10 dogs in the hunt and one vendor set up, you can bet, lord willing, I’d still be there.
