What is the best bluetick bloodline

I'm a walker man, my dad was so I am. My 15 yrs old son like bluetick and i don't know nothing about bluetick or their bloodline. If getting a bluetick going to keep his interests in hounds I am willing to help him ever way I can. So what do I need to know

Happy for your Son....

But, he needs to know, a good Bluetick is hard to find all of a sudden the last 5 years or so. You both need to find, and hunt with whatever is closest to you first.

That way you can make your mind up on what you see, and what suits you real-time. I have lost a few of my older breeding stock, and i am slowly hand picking my future stock.

I was heavy Spanky, Jet, Hillbilly,Frosty Blue Bo Bo, and Owl Creek. My new bunch has lonesome II, Smokey River Blue Buck Jr, Nitech Mid Ohio Rattlin Toby, Wild N Blue Buck HTX, and an all Blue Cameron male that i can't catch yet when turned loose LOL.

So, take some time and go hunt with as many Blue dogs as you can, and hopefully you can find not only a balanced hound, but a line that's reproducing the kind that you want to follow, hope that helps, Dexter.

Call Alex at 660-202-7811 and get that boy a Woodrow pup. He lives in Missouri so not that far from you. I promise you wont be disappointed with the traits and ability the pup will have. Call around and ask any walker dog man that has hunted with or against Woodrow and they will tell you the same. Woodrow is qualified for the tournament of champions, pkc nationals, pkc state championship, and the pkc breed race championship. He comes from a long line of winning hounds and is currently #7 on the reproducers list at a young age with barely over 100 pups on the ground.

Thank all of ya for responding, i appreciate it alot. This might be a dumb question what line of dog should I stay away from. What are characteristics of the rambo II dog, or the jet dog. I mean are they well balanced dog track, tree and mouth

I've seen good in both lines of hounds. Both lines have good traits. Just like any cross made there are some that just don't make it.

From what I have seen with the jet line that I have hunted since jet VII. Mine were first crossed out on spanky blood. Kept 2 males, 1 was silent, other open on track. Both hunted good, and treed good, but the 1 that looked more jet would put his nose to everything you hunted with him and that bothered me. I bred him to a line bred jet female and that trait carried over into my tuff male that I kept out of that cross.
That line has been easy to start and has alot of grit. Mine bark alot on the yard too. The Rambo blood has been more layed back, less trash interest when hunting and more of the manners I like all around. My current male is stone silent, big bawl all the way, sits back on his butt and let's the tree dogs take pics lol. The Rambo male has thrown pups that don't annoy me on the yard and in the woods. Both lines has good mouths, looks, but i would probably look for jet bred for more of a competition hunter and the Rambo line for just coonhunting for pleasure and can win in competition.
And let me add, my line bred Hannah dog died at 14 yrs old with cancer. The 2 males I raised died 2 months apart a 10 yrs old with cancer, so consider how line breeding can be a plus and minus, Dexter.

If it is for a young boy, I personally wouldn't get into dead loner, super wide hunters. A bloodline that wants to please, that enjoys a youngsters treatment. Not one that only wants a ride to the woods and then...
