Tractive?
Has anyone tried the Tractive GPS dog tracker? If so what was your experience?
I have not tried it, but looked into them. Don't think they would be good for hunting, compared to the Dogrta Pathinder for the following reasons:
- It is dependent on your dog, and you, being in a location where both get cell service. The dogs collar is not actually communicating with your phone or receiver.
- It looks like it is built more for pets- not something made to be in extreme cold or hot, wet, swampy, brush, etc... night after night. Do not think it is engineered for hunting dogs.
- It costs 50$, and a monthly fee of up to $10 a month. In two years you'd pay $240, plus the $50 for the collar... $290- compared to the Dogtra $400, with NO fees ever. At years three and four of using the Tractive it would cost you more than the Pathfinder (if it lasted that long). If you have more than one dog, those monthly fees would really make it expensive over the course of a couple years.
- Limited features- no shock collar options, no tree switch, etc...

Seeking Soli Deo Gloria through the hounds.
Thanks for info. Of course if you have more than one dog the Dogtra costs more too. I could get the Tractive and two years subscription for $184.74 I'm just not sure how well it would work under hunting conditions.
