Heart problems in dogs causes by dog food?
https://amp-theguardian-com.cdn.amp...e-heart-disease
Grain free jumps out. Old school is still the way to go. I fed grain free for a couple years, developed multiple problems. Might want to check this out.

You would think that companies like Purina and Eukanuba with all of the money that they have/spend on research would have figured this out. But they continue to push "grain free".
Where is Trevor? Do we have Eukenuba Reps like we used to have Purina Reps? I don't hear/see anything about them. Trevor can you ask one of them what Eukanuba's official position is on these grain free/heart problem studies? Have they conducted any research on this?
Do dog food companies do any research on just how much protein and fat performance dogs need? Why don't they give us reccomendations based on these studies? How are we to know? Why do they keep raising the protein and fat content? Are we to just assume that "more is better"? Just because a dog food costs more, does that mean that it is actually better for our dogs? Are dog food companies like Purina and Eukanuba concerned at all with the actual health and well being of our hounds? Or are they only concerned with marketing and profits?
If our dogs are truly "members of the family" with "rights" as animal rights activists suggest, then why is their no government oversight of dog food?
Wife's been feeding grain free 4health from tractor supply for at least 5 years to her foo foo dogs "AKC pomeranians". Show quality pups go for as much as any good bred finished hounds. Their breed club researched this and found the grain free problems seemed to effect only certain breeds and the majority had underlying health conditions or were predisposed genetically. She continues feeding this brand. Me I'm Purina all the way.
I have a 11 year old black and tan. He is allergic to everything. I have had him on grain free since he was four. Just before he turned 10 he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. My vet is assuming it was caused by the grain free diet. All the research I have done seems the larger bread dogs are affected the most. The pet food industry has know it for years, and that is why they have started to add taurine to the feed. What is coming to light is it wasn't the lack of taurine but the fact the grain free ingredients block the dogs body from absorbing the taurine. The heart needs taurine to work properly. I will never feed grain free or anything that contains peas, potatoes, chick peas, or lentils. I feel like I poisoned my best friend, all along thinking I was helping him. He can no longer hunt but is still a big part of the family, and will be till he has to say goodbye. Just my two cents.
