Good Coon Hunting Books?

Looking for some suggestions of good old fashioned Coonhound reading books right now during the hottest part of the summer. (About 90 at dark with humidity around 95). Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Gone with the dogs by Steve Fielder is pretty good. Has stories and some history mainly coon hunting and a little bear with plot hounds if I remember right.

Strike and Stay by Bob Plott isn’t bad. If you like hound history and the guys that made the Plott hound what it is today, then this book is right up your alley.

Trained by a hound dog by Ed Vance is pretty good as well. That is more big game hunting but still a good read. Right now I am reading Call of the Hounds by Del Cameron. Not too far in but it is good as well. Mostly big game as well but lots of stories and history of the old time lion and bear hunters.

Hie to the Hunters by Jesse Stuart is about fox hounds but is a great read. Set in rural Kentucky.

If you like a good fictional book the ryland creek saga is a series of books written by a coonhunter .
The first one is called (the last coonhunter).
They're 3 books out now.
The last coonhunter
Exceptional hound
Master of hounds
Very good reads!

I am the host of Coon hunting university podcast and I plan on having Mr Joseph Gary Crance (he is the author of this series of books) on my podcast in September once his 5th books hits the market place. I have been in contact with him and he seems like a super nice guy, life long Coon Hunter and an extremely talented writer.

I believe it will be awesome to interview him because not only is he a author/Coon hunter he also taught survival in the Air Force so i plan on picking his brains a little on what he feels the average Coon hunter should carry with them to the woods in case of an emergency. (Just a little sneak peek) lol

If you would like me to ask him any questions for you during the interview to be featured on the podcast. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Our podcast is available on every major podcast platform if you would like to listen.
