mosquitos

Anyone have any home remedies to keep them off the dogs and out of the dog houses. They are driving the dogs crazy. Thanks

I’ve been using peppermint oil for years. It seems to work fine. I pour some in the shaving in the dog house. And whenever I tie them in the yard I’ll rub some on their neck and back. It seems to help both myself and the dogs.

Mix it 50/50 with Biden STS and it kills all the bugs including all ant mounds and just keeps killing…been years since I’ve had fleas in the kennels and back yard…I spray once a year or less…during mosquito season I spray cutter unless it’s time to mix it…

.

Delta gave some good advice. That stuff works.

I know the question was about home remedies.

But the combination of Spartan to kill them in the area and Saywer to keep them off your dog. Your pretty well protected.

One not on the Spartan. Read the instructions. It attracts them and kills them. So don't put it right next to the dogs. Put it away from them and the area will be kept clear.

I’ve used the Cutter backyard spray and the Sparta Mosquito Eradicator both and they were a waste of money for me.

You might want to

Plant Lemon Grass around your dog kennel or pen areas.

Also meatball you can buy lemon grass oil repellent at Walmart in the pharmacy section. It user friendly so use it on yourself as well.

TRUTH

A mix of lemon grass and peppermint planted around the kennel might be good also. Certain plants that people like the smell of animals dislike so look it up on google. Use Irish spring green bar soap to keep animals away from your garden as well or plant lavender close to your gardening areas. Deer and rabbits dislike it.

Get a couple mosquito plants and set them around the outside of your dog pen.

Skeeters was so bad here you could not sit on the porch in the late evening. Put 2 of the mosquito plants on the front and back porch. Ended the mosquito problem.

I think there are different plants that repel mosquitoes,. I think the ones I got was citronella plants. They have an odor that is real similar to lemon. I noticed the odor is stronger when they get wet.
