Keeping ants out of food bowl?
Have a dog that dont eat all her food right away and will get ants in her bowl once in a while. Tried coating the bottom and the side with petroleum jelly and that didnt work. Im all ears for ideas. Thanks.
Spray the area with permethrin
Buy a cutter mosquito spray that connects to water hose...
Buy a bottle of Biden XTS...pour out 50 percent of each into separate containers...
Pour the half empty bottle of the Biden XTS in the half empty bottle of cutter mosquito spray...
The cutter bottle should be full of the mixture...
Spray the yard, kennels and anywhere there are ants and fleas...even up on the house walls to keep bugs out...
You won’t have fleas nor ants for months...
String out you hose beforehand because you have less than five minutes from start to finish...
I do this once a year maybe less...no fleas or ants...if mosquito season gets bad I will spray at that time and it gets them all...

Feed her and give her 15 minutes to eat, then put it away. They will quickly learn to eat at feeding time. If you leave food out ants are the least of your worries, there are all sorts of bad bird diseases they can get from their feces.

Leave the food in front of the dog for 10 minutes then pick it up. It doesn't take long for a dog to learn to eat it while it's there.

I put bug granules completely around the kennel every months or two. I do not have any issues since i started doing this

My hounds are tied out in the edge of pasture that currently has 15 heifers grazing it. If the hounds don’t clean up their food in 5-10 minutes the nosy bovine usually do it for them. They learn quick when the feed hits the pan they better get it while they can!
