What is the odds that ukc will change there current stance on not being able to use thermals for scoring?

The rule will change when a majority of hunters have a thermal. Just like tracking collars.

I hated it when they allowed Garmins to be used during hunt time, but look at how much money Garmin has made. I believe the same will happen in this case. If one of the companies would give a kickback, they would be legal tomorrow.

They are not that good. If you buy one you will love it. But, you will not have that much confidence in one.

KT, I understand exactly where you are coming from. I have tried several that were in the price range of a coon hunter, over the past 4 or 5 years. I didn't have much confidence. Then I decided to try it again when I heard all the good reviews on the AGM models. I know there are more expensive ones and perhaps better ones. But the AGM works for me after several years of disappointment.

Even if you find the coon on thermal you still got to get the cast to see it with a light. That's the way it went last week in another hunt.

My dog got a minus on tree that would other wise been a circle and Im ok with that. Id rather know he slicked then be guessing. Just my 2 cents.

If OK'd, they would be just like Garmins. You could use one to find a coon but not to "score" a coon. Garmins are allowed but you can't use them to score with. You can say my dog is in that direction but you can't tree him unless a majority of the cast hears him.

Been using them for several years in another kennel club with no problems and you use it to help find a ccon but still have to be able to show it with your light. It is just a tool to help you know where to look.

I have found two that the AGM would NOT pick up. No heat seen. Yes, 100 sure they were raccoons.

AGM 25 will cost you around $1,750. Don’t buy anything less quality.

Good reply. In a kennel club that requires plus points, every possible option should be made available to get coon scored.
