-- Robin Migration (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928536481)
Robin Migration
I was born and raised 90 miles west of where I live now and we had Robins every winter...
I moved to Freeport, Texas in 1974 and have been here ever since...I have never seen Robins here in this county since I've been living here until this year...I believe they showed up about 3 weeks ago or slightly longer ago...they are still here, maybe not as many but still quite a few...
I don't have a logical explanation for it other than maybe they needed more food...if that the reason then why is their not enough food...
Was the climate perfect for having an over abundance of Robin populations?
The climate further north wasn't right for Robin food production?
The climate down here was optimum for Robin food production?
The climate not that good for the Robins to stay further north?
The climate perfect for Robins to migrate here?

We don't have any here around my house through the winter. Come spring they will be back.
As for why they've discovered your house this year who knows.
I'm going to use Oriole as an example. A friend of mine is entadated with them every year when they migrate through SW MO. I live 1 mile from her and rarely every see one. Mom lives around a 1/4 closer than me and keeps feeders out for them and is gradually getting a few more every year but nothing like Wilma who has a flock show up. Sounds like they've discovered your place has the food source they need to winter over.
