Getting an X Breed association started would probably be the first step. Most of the breed days events are hosted/sponsored by the breed association that represents that breed.

I think the problem is that X bred is not a breed.

Could it be?

There is a XBRED Days already, it just falls under Walker Days, English Days and Black and Tan Days

Just asking for a friend😉😉😉

By the very definition, X breds are a mixture of the recognized breeds and not an actual "breed".

If they’re not an actual breed why can I just go ahead and register them as a walker or a English? That’s right you can’t cause they’re the start of their own breed

Look at the x-bred page on this forum. There hasn't been an entry in weeks. How many people do you think would show up for x-bred days?

If they had something to hunt for or run for like every other breed has you’d see a lot more on here. Why would people wanna try when the UKC is doing nothin for their breed

You can't register them as a walker or English because they are not a walker or English. They are also not "their own breed". They are a mixture of the other breeds. You can hunt them in UKC open event hunts as a mixture. But you can't hunt them in single breed hunts because they are a mixture of 2 or more breeds.

All I’m saying is there should be a hunt to reward the x breeds in the hunts like all the other special hunts for the category of breeds

Maybe come up with a breed standard like the other 7 breeds have and go from there?

Just because they are not an actual breed of their own doesn't mean you can't form an association that represents the x bred hounds. You wouldn't need a "breed standard" other than what ukc uses as their standard for registration as an X bred. There could still be an event specifically for them. You just need to form an organization/ association that would represent them.

That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to say

You would have to get the people hunting cross bred hounds to form an association and schedule a hunt and call the winner the mixed breed champion. UKC doesn't have to be involved. If you got enough members of your mixed breed association and enough of them showed up at your mixed breed hunt for a couple of years, then UKC might recognize the hunt winner as the mixed breed champion.

UKC did not set up the X bred program to start a mixed breed category of hounds. They set it up to stop the single registration of mixed breed hounds into a breed. They set it up so that you would have a pathway to eventually return their offspring into a breed and you could still hunt your mixed breed hound until you got there. They did not mean for the mixed breed dogs to be recognized and remain mixed.

there's no guarantee that a mixed breed will ever be allowed to be single registered back into their breed. I think this is what some want when they mix them but there's many breed associations closed and may never allow this.

I'd have your local club help you with it. Setup a regular Friday, Saturday UKC hunt sometime in the year. Invite all XBreed hunters to bring their dogs. Call it XBreed days. If it grows into a successful hunt, then Maybe UKC would recognize it down the road.
US Redbone days is held every year, it's not UKC sanctioned, but the hunts are UKC hunts open to all breeds. It's one of my favorite hunts. It doesn't draw as big of a crowd as National Redbone Days, but its a real good time.

I was told that—

Single Registered hounds started out to be for “purebred” hounds who for what ever reason didn’t have papers. Back in the early days some hunters had their own line and never sent in papers but their hounds where pure. Then along the way it got changed to “if it can swim and looks like a duck, it’s a duck!!” And when the duck ended up producing a chicken it a litter along came X Breed which was the only thing that could happen.

So as jdgher said, get enough together and have a fun hunt and see what happens?? You will only be out one weekend if it doesn’t work😉😉

I am going to set it up. I've found the host site already. It will be held at our local dog pound. That way if you don't have a dog all you have to do is go inside and get one.
