Chip or no chip

What’s everyone’s thoughts on getting there dogs micro-chipped
There seems to be a lot of dogs getting lost these days

I have the wife chip my hounds. She has akc pom show dogs. Years ago one escaped, got picked up 2 miles down thg he road, then "given away". Ended up clear across the state. New owners took it into the vet's. He scans all new patients and boom. We got the call and had the dog back after a 8 hr trip. Also shelters usually scan on intake.

In Ohio we have to micro chip them if they get a brucellosis test done on them. I have most of mine chipped because of that reason. I prolly would not have done it on my own tho. I figure it can’t hurt anything

All of mine get chipped. It's the best way to prove ownership if lost/stolen. To many people who would take a hound to a different location to get them away from the owner. Either they don't like hunters, or believe the dog, in ideal physical condition, is skinny. I work in the animal control field, and see way to many hounds come through without any form of ID.
