state

thinking about moving to a different state the all have good and bad in um! What would be a nice quiet rural area to raise a family and has work available? thx in advance

North west Arkansas and NE Oklahoma have several small towns and work is available in the larger towns that can be in easy driving distance. Pretty good coon hunting available.

Anywhere deer hunting isn’t the only thing the DNR supports. In other words, don’t come to Iowa.

I've asked lots of people from lots of different States- as I intend to move somewhere once I retire where I can better enjoy coon hounds. What I have discovered is that finding quality places to hunt is a problem everywhere. Loss of land, over building of houses is going to be the end of coon hunting long before anti hunters, or deer hunters will be. I'm afraid we've battled the wrong enemy for years.... at least didn't pay enough attention to all of them.

Hunt

Any state with low lands like flooded timber etc. Because you can't develop flood ground states like Arkansas, mo, okla. All have some govt. ground the poorer states are usually better because money messes it up

Along with MO which has quite a bit of state gound ran by conservatives. Oklahoma and Arkansas both have year around kill seasons on raccoons.

Other than some really hot months in the summer.... I keep coming back to Arkansas as a great place to move to. Missouri keeps making the list also.

Hunt

I read somewhere that mo,and miss. we're the only 2 states with a hunter increase any year the last 20 years I'm sure the last ten or so has been decrease but these two states seem to be hunter friendly

It might help if you said where you are from???

If I were looking to move (I'm not), I would look around the Zanesville, Ohio area. Easy access to I-70 and I-77. Can get to a lot of places within an hour or so (including Columbus). A lot of rural area and older small towns. A lot of Amish/Menonite country around there too.

Not a good time to move to this part of Wyoming. Out of State buyers have just about bought every house for sale. The other side of the Big Horn Mountains has decent coon hunting... Research the Worland and Basin area. Rest of the State is terrible for coon hunting.

The State budget is also about to go through a big crisis as coal is dying and oil died overnight.

State

I love my Tennessee mountains, but if I were ever to move, it would be to Arkansas or Mo. I love the values that folks in those 2 states have and the coon hunting is excellent in both states. You could not go wrong moving to either state in my opinion. Dave

Plenty of public hunting in Oklahoma. But if you don’t like stickers , thorns , ticks , chiggers , heat or snakes you might not like it.

But pot Is legal lol.

Now it all makes sense...…..

Northern Missouri has great hound hunting and isn’t completely about the deer. I live on the Iowa/Missouri line and it’s a whole lot better down there.

I can almost throw a rock to where they are growing it and selling it. What’s bad the young people getting their medical cards saying they need it because they can’t deal with life. Guess they never knew what it was like when they were a kid to spend 12 hrs in the fields every day all summer and go to bed with way less than a full tummy.

I’d like to move to the Jackson area.

12 hours in a field 😂 Kids today will threaten to call social services for having to cut the grass.... I grew up on a tobacco farm and long days were the norm..my Dad was a workaholic and would hit another gear when the sun got below the trees 😂.... Kids today blame everyone else for their own issues..trip over their own feet and say it’s the parents fault for not buying them the $200 Nike’s they wanted 😞

Jackson is the one corner of Wyoming that is extremely liberal in population and local government. And it has the very highest cost of living in the State. But absolutely beautiful country
