Sweet corn

First time making sweet corn in the oven! Never made it this way before. no need to boil water, just put whole corn, husk and all inside at 355 degrees for 40 mins!

Try cooking fresh sweet corn with husk on in microwave . It works perfect !! Wash corn keep husk on.. microwave 3 mins on high . Cut off large end squeeze out corn ..(use oven mitt ..Hot !! )perfect and no silk hair .. this is my new way of cooking corn on the cob

Just got my first sweet corn of the year. I know, but I live in Northwest Minnesota. I'm going to try these two ways.

Cooking

Sounds good I am writting it down to try if I get some sweetcorn. Finally got some to silk stage. I have planted 13 pound of seed this year. Can't get it to germinate.

Glad you have some to eat!

Enjoy

I did the microwave one, it was really good. It's too hot for the oven.

Is it your long rows that aren't wide that didn't germinate well? Corn pollinated by the wind and does better planted in squares rather than a few long rows. Curious?

I acually bought it. I get most of my vegies from my Amish neighbors they give me better vegs. then I can grow. The one acrosws the road from me has a HUGE green house and over 30 acres in organic gardens. I do favors for them and he gives me vegs. Work for both of us. Their corn isn't ready yet. He sells to the public.

What r you paying for sweet corn? My SIL just bought some $9/doz. I live the stuff, but would rather pay a little more for a steak.

Bought a dozen from a vendor that has a stand all summer and paid $5.50 for a dozen. Always high early will usually be cheaper in a week or so when more sellers have corn.

Yes my long rows. It was a germination problem. Most of it rotted. Got maybe 20% stand. What did come up has pollenated and ears started. Replanted 16 rows 1st of June. It didn't come up very good either. But lot better than 1st planting. It should be ready about A O time.
