I completely understand !!

When some have read all 3 volumes of uncle john and the first volume of the wild way and hunted blueticks their whole life. Then I tell them they are intellectually challenged and it gives them a complex.

I apologize.

I learned a long time ago to never assume your smartest guy in the room as soon you open a door.

Stay humble and be careful not to let pride get in your way of learning.

On the way in the gate the other day there was a 77 yr old man coming out he was cutting up old oil field tanks with a propane torch. He said he had a 5th grade education he said he just didn’t know how to quit working. Said all those protesters on tv they don’t want no job they lazy. He said I am like you I would give them mine if they would keep it. He had served in the army been many places I could have talked to him for hours educated man no.

But he was one of the most intelligent men in the things that matter most I ever met he been there done that many a year.

While I am a strong advocate for Education, College and Post Graduate , life itself teaches us a valuable Education if we learn from our mistakes and remember what works. Education does not just come from a Classroom, it comes from living and learning from others, a Classroom just makes it easier and faster to learn what may take years to learn by yourself. Dave

Being humble enough to listen. I wasent always the best hand but I would show up every day ready to work when the top hands layed out wasent long I drew top pay. Education is a wonderful thing. Some didn’t get the chance because situations in their life didn’t allow it. But when I give people ideas on these dog threads they are not mine they were taught to me by some of the greatest dog men I ever knew I figured out if I put down my pride things were a lot easier if I would just listen.

Making the grade in the classroom is proof someone can learn what’s already been learned...those being taught can be graded on their ability to learn...

How do we identify those that do best at discovering and learning what’s not in the books? We don’t have a way to find them much less grade their abilities...this is something I have seen...these guys didn’t do well in school but they are the go to folks in the workplace...

I once worked with a mechanical engineer that couldn't change a flat tire.

Education

Never dismiss the value of an education, or overstate the value, it is a key to unlock doors, but you better use it if you want to be successful. None of us would want heart surgery being done on us by a uneducated person, just saying. I am well aware that not every one had the opportunity to get an education, but they did have an opportunity to learn on the job. Education comes in various means, not just in a class room. Life itself is an education, both good and bad depending on the pathes we choose. Education is definitely not a measure of intelligence, but most intelligent people are educated either in a classroom or on their own. Class rooms are the short cut, but definitely not the only way to be educated. Dave

Some of the dumbest people I know have the most years and degrees in "higher education".
