Registration question

So I bought the dog but the papers got lost before I could get them transferred over what all do I need to fill out now to get new ones thanks in advance for any info

You will need a duplicate registration filled out by whoever the dog was registered to. It can be found on this sitemap website for download. If you have an email PM it to me and I will send it to you to download and print. If these are unavailable to you go to the registration section here on the forum and ask Russell to mail you what you need.

If I do the duplicate papers form and a affidavit at the same time and send them in together will the duplicate papers come back in my name

Jake, the Affidavit Form is not intended nor accepted for that purpose. The owner on record is the only one who may apply for a duplicate Registration Certificate. Once duplicated, it does go back to him and he would sign off to you. If it was acceptable to use an Affidavit in this manner, I could quite easily get the Kennel Club to make your dogs mine.

The Affidavit Form is for third party transfers. In other words, you signed off on a dog that I bought from you. I fill out the paperwork on the back and list me as the new owner. But before i send them in to process< i sell the dog to someone else. That someone else would now use the Affidavit Form saying he is the new owner instead of me, as shown on the back that I had filled out. Secondly, the KC would also have proof that you (the owner on record) did in fact sign off on ownership of the dog. The difference with lost papers is that the KC would have no proof that the owner on record signed off. This policy protects the owner on record.

Hope this helps to understand the difference and what the Affidavit is for.
