Treedogs

In your experiences, are TREEDOGS Born or Trained?

Born...and fine tuned with a good owner and ruined with a poor one!

You can take a little tree out, but you can't put any in.

Bred to be tree dogs anymore. Hard to find a really good tree dog in the 70,s now we got tree dogs and hard to find a really good track dog. But to be honest I like. Medium nose track dog that Huns fast and hard it’s what ever you like in a dog.

Does anyone breed for a well balanced hound that strikes a track, runs it and trees well? A good dog with a medium nose?

I would bet on Hobo and I don’t even know his dogs...lol

If they're trained we have better dog trainers now than we had 50 years ago.

Born

many years ago an older gentleman told me it was easier to breed it in than to beat it in...it is easier to train one to tree than to teach one to trail..

Well it would be hard to train a dog to tree if it doesn’t have the inclination to do so...
But there should be better trainers today no doubt about it...there is so much free information on this website as well as others...

Back before the computer age I looked for information in dog world, fur, fish & game, field and stream, outdoor life and Full Cry...and mostly hunting alone with my dogs as a little kid...I probably learned the most as a kid hunting alone With my mutts and acting like one of them
myself...😁

I remember looking at the hunting magazines on the magazine racks and going straight to the dog columns and if it wasn’t to my liking I would pass up that month...if it was good I would buy it...and a breeding book now and then...information was definitely slow before the computer age...

We should share information as best we can so hopefully one day there will be better hunting dogs as a whole...
