Young dog - woods time

I’ve got a two year old that’s coming along real good , I’ve not been able to have her in the woods but once or twice a week!
I knew she needs more time in the woods , but I’m working 11 hours a day 6 days a week!
I’m either too tired or not wanting to stay away from family! 😥
Is there anyone that can relate to me?

I know your plight! Though I'm no longer keeping coonhounds, just a few beagles to run on hare, I struggle with the same in regards to wanting/wishing I could run them more. Years back I was bemoaning the fact to an old friend who at the time was able to run everyday if he chose to. His comment was "It bothers you more than it does them. You're providing food, water, shelter from the elements and interacting with them everyday. They're happy."

He was right. Though I can't run as much as I'd like I spend a minimum of an hour a day with them caring for them and enjoying that aspect of keeping hounds. Got a good sized fenced in area that allows them to stretch their legs and run around abit twice a day which they seem to enjoy.

I struggle getting mine the hunting time I'd like. Partially being busy... and partially finding places to take him locally. I know when his light first switched on- I made it a point to at least three nights a week- sometimes more. Did that for six months. He is now about three and I probably average once a week or two. I do think think the more you hunt them in that six moth to three year old phase is critical. After that.... I think it is not as important. Good luck to you and I hope you get in the woods more!
