Accidental Inbreeding

I dont believe in inbreeding but...Yall ever know of an accidental inbreeding that turned out to be good??
Just curious

Some of the best dogs I ever had were line bred and inbred on purpose...

Folks mention inbreeding and line breeding many times...but I very seldom here comments that the sire and dam or grand sire and grand dam are above average dogs...usually when someone inbreeds it is because that particular dog is outstanding...

Of course there can be good dogs out of this accidental breeding...

Accidental inbreeding

I had an accidental breeding of littermates gave al but 2 away to deer hunters. The male I kept has just turned one year old and he has treed 6 wild coons alone and him and his dad has caught one on the ground. He’s about 75 pounds sold and tight built walker looks real houndy His mom and Dad granddad Is Tequila Sunrise on top and great grand on bottom is Sackett Jr Son I will see how he turns out but so far I am pleased with him.

When in your mind you have created the perfect coondog that's when you breed real tight. A old fox hunter told me one time when you get what you want only a 1 eighth out cross at a time. If course it's alot easier to build a perfect running dog than a tree dog. If you could get 10 coonhunters get behind and support 1 particularly bloodline then you could find out how a bloodline would really produce but that will never happen.

What's the difference? If they are closely related isn't that inbreeding ???

ARE you above or below the mason Dixon line?

Posted by Clovis A Nailor on 04-17-2020 12:27 AM:

2nd cousin would be line breeding if you got your sister pregnant that would be inbreeding. We call them sister wives in Arkansas.

Yall are a trip!! lol

Breeding dogs

What's really a trip Is people applying human terminology to animals, while inbreeding is taboo in humans it's real common in animals. You can get the best or worst traits by inbreeding, you just have to know what traits are dominant and desired. In the wild inbreeding is very common with animals, some good results and some not so good, but it's been going on since time began and will continue. Dave

Google Superior Pointers

Then click on Rambling Thoughts

Then click Wehle on Breeding 1991

Enjoy and it does work for Foxhounds and Coonhounds, the secret is you have to have “good” stock😉😉

I will check that out old timer...thanks...

Never thought about it...but a group of different animals in an area. Maybe a ten mile radius ...are probably really closely related...
Im sure there is a lot of close (inbreeding) going on...
Makes you wonder...

Dogs

Inbreeding was done alot in ancient times many Kings and gueens were closely inbred .King Tut was x-rayed and it produced some gruesome deform body parts he had to live with because of being inbred.like Mr Richards said it is done in animals we bred a full brother and sister to each other and produced a reserve national champion in the cattle business but I wouldn't try it again
