Still in total disbelief

Last night, I watched a coon for at least 5 minutes._ It was is in a_regular ditch._ _Maybe 15 feet away from me._ It was a kitten coon!!!!!!_ The first thing I noticed was it small eyes no more than 1/2" apart._ It was maybe 8" long._ it was pawing around the ditch and finally slipped into a culvert.
I still don't quite believe it.

Th only other option is it was a new strain of miniature coon. Before any one asks I don't drink and I am not taking any medications.

.

Down here in Fl we have several different types of habitat for the coon. Water levels in South FL go up and down. Other areas is is wet and just gets wetter but not flooding like the south end. I have found coon down here in order to survive I guess. Have breeding periods that align with habitat conditions.

Kittens in the winter... every year our club has a coon contest one of the categories is smallest coon. When we started it the thinking was it would be won by the smaller of the big coon. Every year a coon weighing less than 5lbs is brought in. A few years ago it was won with one that fit in the guys Garmin pouch.

It could be a late litter, sow just barely surviving herself, worms, sow died and the kitten survived, injury, sickness, etc. I've seen several less than 5 lbs. in late winter over the years, some small and fat, some skinny and small.
