Head scratcher rule question a different approach

Lets try this question another way.

Over 700 looks and only one brave person. LOL

Scenario 1
You are on a cast . You hear all the dogs suddenly open and all are struck.
Instantly cast realizes something is caught or being bayed.
Cast rushes in and finds dogs are on an old coon carcass at least a couple days old.
How do score dogs ?

Reg Score... Champ score

Scenario 2
You are on a cast . You hear all the dogs suddenly open and all are struck.
Instantly cast realizes something is caught or being bayed.
Cast rushes in and finds dogs are on an old opossum carcass at least a couple days old.
How do score dogs ?

Reg Score... Champ score

Scenario 3
You are on a cast . You hear all the dogs suddenly open and all are struck.
Instantly cast realizes something is caught or being bayed.
Cast rushes in and finds dogs are on an old deer carcass at least a couple days old.
How do score dogs ?

Reg Score... Champ score

Here I go again Pat, no matter the correct answer, personally I believe all 3 scenarios should be scored alike. Also I would think the difference would be if they are "baying" or just stopped and eating on the carcass. To me if they're bayed up on it, they have ended their track and need to be handled and points deleted in all scenarios. If they're just found eating on the carcass, to me you would have to back out hope they roll on. Maybe Allen will post the correct answer lol.

Well it depends on what you're calling a carcass. How old is it ( how long has it been dead)? Because I know a few guys that if third dog caught a opossum in any cast and killed it they'd be trying to push for deleted points.

But the way I think this was handled in the advisor was deleted points on dead animals.

Thank you...This is what I believe is correct answer.

Below is the way it was ruled in Advisor ….. thus my head scratcher.

Published in the March 2018 Advisor Coonhound Bloodlines
Strange Encounter.
Main body content copied and pasted...

Q: In a Registered cast, we had all four dogs declared struck. They all struck in the same area, but never went anywhere. We kept running the eight minutes on them, but every now and then wed get a bark to break the eight.
Lo and behold, we found our dogs barking and nibbling on a dead deer carcass. The deer had obviously been dead for a day or two. How should we have handled this situation in terms of scoring them?
A:We can eliminate the most probable common suggestions that do not apply, off game, molesting livestock, calling time out and delete points. We eliminate off game because its a dead animal. The only two options are to: 1) leave them be and hope they get out of there on their own and the eight-minute clock doesn't get them, or; 2) go on in, handle them, and take your minus per Rule 4 (e) {calling dogs off trail}. I'd lean towards the latter

If Mr Alan does not chime in soon I will probably be making a phone call for an explanation

Only one problem here. Under current rules you can't call a dog in off of trail unless time out has been called - go hollering at your dog in the middle of a cast and see what happens. The calling dogs off trail has been deemed obsolete where it at one time fit under the time rules but no longer does, in this case the advisor column does not fit current rules or interpretations of them. But dogs do not have to be treed in to go handle and score, think of dogs that are stationary where it is believed that they have caught game. If it is a coon they have when you get there they receive plus strike points. The scenario mentioned in the advisor should have fit this just like if it was caught game and when reaching the dogs and seeing that it was in fact previously dead animal carcass the strike points would be deleted not plus, minus or scratch depending on what they had if it was a fresh kill or alive.

Yep, reason for the request for a clarification or reasoning
And still waiting from the powers that be for that reply.

Think I can guess why but don't wish to speculate publicly .
