Prayers for Dick Brothers

Our good friend Dick Brothers could use your prayers. After his surgery yesterday it reclotted they think the clot let go and went to the brain causing a stroke. Dick is in ICU as we speak keep him and kathy in your prayers

I'm Dick's son and am giving an update on his condition. First, please direct any messages or questions about his condition to me over the next few weeks.

As of this morning, we found out he did not walk last night. He still has not walked. When I came in this morning he recognized my face and when I asked him if he knew me, he said "Yeah" in a James Cagney voice.
He has a long road ahead and will be going through intense physical therapy for the next few months. He is still in ICU and will be out of there in the coming week and going straight into a rehab facility.
We cannot express the level of support and love all of you have given. Kathy and I are sure in the coming weeks when he begins to read these messages he'll really appreciate it.

He's grouchy as all get out and in fighting spirits. So he will get better, but it will take some time. Right now they are not allowing any visitors whatsoever, and that's straight from the doctor and we appreciate many of you wanting to come but what the doctor says the doctor says.

Kathy has been working non-stop to help and take care of him and his phone has been blowing up non-stop. And I'm asking if you have any questions or want to know more to contact me over the next few weeks so you can give them time to process this journey and begin the healing process.

When Dad starts moving around and talking more, I'm sure he'll start commenting on Facebook and getting back to you all.

In the meantime, if you feel like sending flowers or cards, please send them to Mercy One Hospital C/O Richard Brothers Sioux City Iowa, and we will make sure he gets them.

Thanks again and I'm sure he'll be around next year for plenty of coon hunts, fish, deer and pretty much any other thing on four legs. Take care. John and Kathy.

I have meet quite a few well known folk from the coon hound world. One person after the end of the cast with no winner reached out his hand, and told me I had a real nice dog. That person was Mr. Brothers.
