Shade

Does anyone make a "pop up canopy" for in the bed of your truck bed for over top of the dog box? We do our absolute best to try and park in the shade but often times there just isn't any shady parking spots available. Especially at big events. Seems like there's something I could do to provide shade for my hounds.

Years ago I used fans for my pups, spray them with water and I could hear them crying with the heat...they kept me busy...what I have done is add another layer of plywood that has an air space between the dog house and the plywood shell...the plywood blocks the sun and the heat radiates through 4 to 5 inches and the breeze carries the heat away...once I started doing this the pups really quieted down...I also made sure the pups had plenty of ventilation...

You could custom build something using the same concept and make it in pieces that does not require nailing nor bolting up...and set it up when your stationary with dogs in the box...

Easiest thing if you were worried about shading your truck bed would be one of those popup shades they sell at Walmart. 10x10 is only $60-$80. We use them at my kid's softball tournaments. They go up in a couple minutes, and pack down about like a large tent. If its breezy at all I'd recommend staking it down, wouldn't want it blowing into your truck.

I worked the oil field for a longtime and would take a hound sometimes when I was on the road. I took a mop bucket and put a bag of ice in it. Chain it to the door with the dog lead and they wouldn't even be panting in over 100 degree heat parked in the sun. Had to put another bag of ice in there every few hours. Makes a world of difference.

this might sound/look a little bit silly but have you considered using an umbrella like people use on their patios? You could set it up either in or next to your truck and when collapsed it should fit right next to the dog box.

I have used just a 5# bag of ice you can pick up at any gas station. It last 7 hrs. in some pretty warm temps.
