What are the prime years for a coonhound?

4 to 8 yrs old the reason I say that is they are able to be indifferent in the hunts regardless to how good or bad you draw.

When they are running and treeing at 12 mos old, they are all worn out at 5 yrs old.

Training dogs is not so much about quantity, it's more about timing, and the right situations...After that it's up to the dog....A hunting dog is born...
I would say 3 to 8 depending on hunting experience, coon population and how good they been taken care of.
