Off the ground whelping kennel

Wanna build an above ground kennel to whelp pups in. Can someone text me some pictures or rough plans so I can buy material? Any pros and cons to this? Thanks 5024172086

I have raised a bunch of pups in an above ground whelper and on the ground. I prefer the ground, if you have a good dry pen.
Above ground cons:
- dirtier
-female has to be acclimated and does not prefer it
-pups mature slower
-brooder is single purpose. Taking up space.

I can't tell any difference in wormload or coccidiosis one over the other.

I don't live in a cold climate so i dont have to worry about keeping pups warm, that might be a factor for you.
If you decide to go with above ground, id suggest 3 doors. One in the box, one on the side and one on the end. Its much easier to keep clean and the pups wont stomp in crap as much letting them in and out with a side door.

What have you seen that makes you think pups mature slower off the ground? Not arguing just wondering.

My pups stay in the box longer than when they are on the ground. It is darker and more like a den/cave. They seem to be stimulated more in the pen where they can see out and explore a little earlier. Could be totally in my mind? Of course I'm talking about the earlier stages of development. They prob all catch up to each other around 6-7 mos, but it seems like the ones on the ground get to that point a little quicker. Just personal observation, absolutely nothing scientific.

I’m more worried about keeping momma and pups cool. Also the female is a kennel jumper and I think this will be less stressful for everyone especially if I start putting her in there a month or two prior

I have raised litters both ways. When it rains the above ground kennel is way better.
