Young hounds

What do you think a guy should expect out of a 20 month old male hound that a seller wants $2000 for? Im not in the market but occasionally have a nice young one for sale. One that will hunt out, strike his own coon, nice track dog, good accuracy, and stays treed by him self. Also will split tree if oppertunity comes up. Not 100% broke off all game but not a bad junk runner. Does not blow out of the country to strike, will take what is in front if him. At this time about 300 - 400 yd. hunter. Hunts out on the run. Will check in and go another way at this time. Actually a pretty nice little hound.

Well bred blueticks.

That would be right in the ballpark for a nice young dog doing what it is doing. I have always thought $1500-$2500 was fair price, depending on looks and ability. Location could also play a role in selling dog. One in North Dakota would be harder for someone to come check out than a prime location like you're in. JMO. Take care, Ron.

It's hard to price a dog without seeing it go, and everyone has different opinion. But for 2000 one doesn't need to come check back in for me and needs to go get hooked somewhere.

300-400 yards wouldn’t cut it for me and packing up and going hunting with other dogs wouldn’t work for me either. $1,000 would be plenty.
