Garmin repair - Russia - anyone?

So my TT10 collar has taken a dump. Most obviously a GPS wiring or unit issue after I have jumped through all the updates, resets, antenna replacement, etc...

I see a garmin repair service offered on ebay for 95 bucks. has a 99.9 percent like rate.

Common sense tells me to dump it and buy a new 15, but darn I sure like this 10 collar.

Just wondering if anyone has used the Russian repair service?

If you looking at the replacement strap with wire and antenna box you still have to figure out how to install it. That part is soldered on the board in 3 places. One is on the bottom and you have to remove the board to work on it. That would require a good desoldering station. If you have someone that can do it. Go for it. If you don't they it may not be a good deal.

This is actually a repair service. You send them the entire collar, they do all the repair work and send back.

I am way too un-tech savvy to figure that out on my own!

Why not just send it in to Garmin they will send you a rebuilt or repaired one for not much more.

Garmin quit taking the TT 10's in for repair. They are on their discontinued list. You are right in the fact that if they were taking them. That should be the place to go.

Yep. Already spoke with Garmin. No longer taking the 10's. If the rest of the collar wasn't in such darn good shape it would be a no brainer.

The down side is the wait time to get it back. Looked into getting the parts and doing repairs myself. It’s a month at least to get the parts here and that’s subject to availability.

Russians want to do it cheap so they can copy something and in future years use it against us in some race war or worse. I wouldn't send them anything, not even my trash. Yeah, some say oh what can it hurt? Remember when the Japs took all our scrap metal? Those Marines on those islands found out what it can hurt. Trust is something we need to keep close to our chest, as we do when playing cards.

Why do they need to "borrow" one to work on to copy, WHEN they can BUY ONE and keep. Just saying. If they are working on them, my guess, is they already OWN them.

Do they perform service work on TT 10's? I have an email into them presently, but upon viewing their website I was unable to determine if they did.

Just a follow up that may help others.... Got ahold of Gary down in North Carolina at Magnum Telemetry. Gary and his staff took in my 10 collar and fixed it for $80, including shipping charges.

Great company to deal with!
