letters and numbers

when we register our dogs they come back with a letter and 6 numbers
is there a pattern for the letters and or the numbers?
Example
A123456
does the A stand for something or just the order we register?
it may sound silly but curious

There is no set pattern. Some of the letters may be for certain breeds and some letters may indicate if a dog is a purple ribbon dog, but no set patterns.
