We should open our Eyes: Part 2 Youth education

I work as an Agriculture and Natural resource program assistant. Part of my responsibility is to design programs to educate the public about our Natural resources. Wildlife is clearly a natural resource and the Traditions in NC include harvesting bear with the use of hounds. I have considered designing a program where I would take my little Plott female to elementary schools and talk to kids about hunting traditions. I have done the presentation as a volunteer with my Cub Scouts and the kids and parents loved it. I have a strong track record with the school district working with Garden club programs, so the schools will let me do pretty much whatever I want. They still teach hunter education in our school district. I am just afraid one parent will find a way turn it against us (all hunters) and we will end up losing hunter education classes. what are your thoughts?

I think your program is awesome and I hope you continue! I think it largely depends on the area you live in. I would hope you would be as well received in the big city districts! Thank you for what you do!.

I would not think they could turn a dog against you, especially a well mannered, kid loving hound.

I think that is a great idea.
