Male dog losing hunt. Sick?
Got a 4 year old Male dog that I laid up for awhile and started back to hunting the last 30 days but hes losing all drive after the first dump. He will blow threw the woods first dump then the rest of the night stays close an mills around no energy. This dog has always been a long lanky type dog an now is just fat dosent matter how much I change his feed and or hunt him just fat an lethargic could it be a thyroid issue??
Those are the symptoms but you will have to get bloodwork done to get a diagnosis. It could also be heartworm or tick disease. You will have to take him to a Vet and get blood drawn and have it tested. Heartworm and tick panel is a simple test but thyroid panel has to be sent off and can get expensive depending on vet and how extensive they get. Talk to ThomasG. He is the expert on thyroid disease.
all the thyroid info can be found by going to m.s.u. web site and looking in the diagnostic lab link . pet smart now available at some walmarts are about as cheap as you can find to test for ticks heart worms and thyroids .
Alright thank y'all I'll check into it today an see what I can find
