Garmin help

My alpha keeps randomly losing satellite reception. I tired changing antennas but that didn’t help. The dogs and tracking will come back but it Takes a few minutes and this happens quite often. Anybody have any suggestions, my garmin alpha is up to date on current software version

Thanks

.

There are two kinds of reception. GPS(satellite) and VHF (communication with the collar). You said your loosing GPS communication which uses an antenna you can't change out.

From the home page you can you can go to a page that shows all the satellites your connected to. I suspect you really mean the vhf signal between the handheld and collar. If your loosing all of them at once and then getting them back or your loosing one of them and then getting it back gives you a starting point on where to look. If all at the same time and they return all at the same time. Maybe the SMA connection on top the handheld has a crack in the connection. Many guys when it gets cold with start caring these things in their pockets and the pressure put on them will crack connection. Has that nut holding the sma connector in, ever came loose?

BRUCE

To my knowledge nothing has came loose. I haven't had this handheld maybe 6 months, its a refurb from garmin. say i have all 3 dogs on the ground, i randomly check their distance, i look down to no compass, and no dogs being tracked at all, says lost satellite reception. then a few minutes later it will come back in. so you are saying to check the HARD antenna and see if there is a crack there? thanks for your troubleshooting

.

I would call garmin and generally if it was a return they give 90 day warranty. They may work with you and replace it for nothing. 1800-800-1020
