Thank You Mr. Hoosier!!!
Just want to thank Hoosier for taking time off from work and hunting with us again this year... Before I left to head that way he told me he'd like to get 30-40 coon this trip... Welllllllllllllllllll I don't think the dogs let him down this year.
The weather was the worst its been in all the years I've been going out there and hunting with him.
We saw some really nice dog work this week and some crappy dog work this week as well lol. We ended up killing 43 coon in 7 nights, in the picture there are only 39. It’s always a blast when I get to hunt with Hoosier, Jerry and Eric Debolt and Mike and Tommy Blackburn.
Can't wait for next Nov to roll around again...
I'm not saying it was cold this year... BUT
Hoosier and Queenie
Myself with Hoss and Robin

You are Welcome
Hobo,
You are very welcome. We did have a good time as usual. I am putting you in charge of the weather next year. LOL
For the conditions, I thought we had ALOT of good dog work. It certainly tested their oil and noses.
Those Swampmusic hounds did great....even on flatland!

Oh my goodness, did Queenie tree all of those coons?
Queenie trailed a good part of those coon. She’s a heck of a nice dog to be HALF Redbone.... I hate to think how nice she could be if she was all Walker

Oh my goodness, just think how many coons you would have treed if she was all Redbone. Y'all would have needed a whole 500 brick of 22 shells.
Richard,
Hobo wore that mask you see in the first picture so that when he petted the redbone, he could cover his face so that there was no evidence that he did it!
He was hoping that none of that rubbed off on his wal-cur dogs!

Shells
We didn't need a brick but 200-300 bit the dust! I'd like to say my dog was so loud and treed so hard that she couldn't hear me shoot unless I shot 4-5 warm up shots. I'd like to say THAT......
I could also use any or all of the excuses below.
1. I am old and don't see well.
2. I was just getting the dogs excited.
3. It was too cold for my rifle to shoot well.
4. It was snowing/raining too hard and my scope was fogged up.
5. The more lead you put into the coon, the bigger it looks when it hits the ground.
6. Too many leaves, branches, crap in the way.
7. What fun is shooting JUST ONCE?
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hobo,
It doesn't matter. I didn't want them to tear up my pretty lil redbone. You don't damage your money maker....or let them climb trees!
Next year you might want to bring a taller ladder OR a hoist.

I’m pretty sure you don’t have to worry about her getting toooooo many scars....
Next year I may just bring a chainsaw to cut the leaning trees down....

Hobo
Season ha been open right at 2 months here in these mountains [Sept 21 Tn and Oct 15 Va. ] we have hunted average 4 nights a week and have only looked at around 70 coons. It's amazing that one can tree that many coins in less than a week. I have hunted different times in Indiania and loved that flat land and thick coon population, it will definitely spoil any coonhunter that hunts in steep mountains. Lol. Dave

Dave that’s why I enjoy going up there so much. I can accomplish more in a week of hunting up there than I can in two months here in Va. The bad part is always coming back home and having to hunt lol

Hobo
I know that feeling all too well, we always went up there the opening week in November and had to come back home and hunt the mountains again. I love these mountains, but they are getting harder to hunt as I get older. I may start hunting more in those flat land places and less in these mountains. Lol. Dave

Hobo always seems to have a pup along that trees that first coon here. Pretty neat to see. You've certainly got a couple in the bullpen that looks promising!
Really liked the way the pup was being independent and looking to get treed!

Glad you explained it. Thought y'all were getting attacked by Isis. Don't want to lose Hobo. The way things are going him and Mr. Tim may be the only ones left in the stud dog barn at South Eastern.
I’m trying to decide if I want to make the trip this year to setwds. Hard to believe they have ruined such a great hunt.

Is there any way you can get a better picture of the Queenie dog? It sure brings back a lot of memories of my favorite dog of 35 years ago!
