Hunt Time Decreasing
I noticed PKC reduced the hunt time for their world hunt and a couple other major events.
I hope this doesn't become common in UKC. I for one would like the super slams and Grand Masters to be 2 hour hunts. Pay more to hunt less isn't very appealing, at least to me anyway.
They are decreasing hunt time on week long, 2 rounds per night hunts. UKC doesn't have any of them.
quote:90 minutes for fall s.s. . a first or second strike dog who trees a coon behind the deep and lonely type with the leash lock rule will be hard to beat .lol in the coon zoo it could get interesting . lol

I have a feeling g this will be the way of the future and it will not be good for our dogs

quote:jim if the rules are followed on how to score the babbler dogs should be fine. you might see a change back from the deep alone dogs to dogs who pack some like most of us pleasure hunters have tied out behind the barn .lol instead of dogs going a mile every drop to be a lone maybe we can have the dogs that can beat what ever dog is best in a group setting like the old days that trail down and tree the first coon they cross instead of blowing out of the country .

I am in favor of 90 minute hunts, I think it would help with getting guides because you wouldn't have to have as many places to hunt and I believe it would increase entries because you wouldn't have to have as late of a deadline as you would with a 2 hour hunt. I might be wrong but this is just my opinion.
Whether it’s 2 hours or 90minutes the dogs are going to hunt the same. Just because the hunt time is decreased to 90 minutes does t mean the dogs going to throw on the brakes and say I’ve onky got 90 minutes not 2 hours. A lot are saying do away with the leash lock since hunt time is decreased. I don’t see this helping with the reason behind the change. Lack of guides and hunting grounds.
