Putting down aggressive dog

Im not a part of any bird hunting groups so i figured id put it here. We have a vizla female who has been a great dog for the nost part, she had 2 litters of pups years ago and is now 8. Shes always been acted mean towards strangers until she knows they are not a threat then shes nice, which usually only takes a couple min. She would occasionally start a fight with our older femal vizla who is now 14 but we figured it was for dominance and it looked rough but there were never any serious injuries. Well the other night she found a bone and growled and lunged at my new walker puppy. I put my pup in the garage so he wouldnt get beat up and thats when i heard her fighting our old female. She flat out was trying to kill her and ive seen her kill grounhogs, coon, etc. So im not exagerating. I was yelling and kicking her and i couldnt get her off the old one and my dad heard me so he ran out and was yelling and kicking and she just kept tearing at the old ones throat. And the old one wasnt even fighting she just was on the ground whining and looked like she was dieing, well after realixing kicking and yelling wasnt working and she was gonna kill our old dog i had avoided doing this cause i didnt want to get bit but i grabbed her by the neck skin and got her pulled off. Our old dog has cuts on her neck but luckily her upper front leg got the worst but we are taking her to get stitches and the other one put down tonight. My dads worried as other peoples dogs come around to hunt, be in our big yard and if she tried to kill a dog shes lived with her whole life, we think she might eventually snap on them or my new pup. Or she could possibly snap worse on someone she doest recognize and attack a person. I know she hasnt bitten a persob yet, she has snapped at them tho so we are worried it will come to biting. Does putting her down sound like the right thing, its ny dads decision but i wonder if theres any better ways

I would say dad made the correct decision

Ya she has been bad enough i can agree with him but i just wonder if having her kenneled up/ seperated from other dogs who are no match for her would solve it and if we kept her penned up when we are not around so strangers to her are safe, before that she would always just have access to roam outside, im not worried about my pup to much cause once he grows up it will be pretty fair match if she started a fight and even tho the old ones defenseless and we dont want her getting hurt, in reality she isnt gonna be around much longer. And Its not like ny dad wants to put her down hes pretty upset about it but to me it just seems like he went to putting her down before all other options. And i kind of forgot to mention she gets along and plays with other dogs pretty much any other time its just the occasional times she snaps and attacks them that sucks, because as i said other than that flaw shes a great dog

A liability .....just a matter of time.
I hope its not a kid she tears into when she decides to acts out.

I read what i said its just hard to describe this dog. I always thought acting mean towards strangers at first was normal for a dog but i never thought/ do think she would lash out on a human like she did our other dog even if it was a stranger. But it sounds like putting down is the best option i just figured people find a way to deal with dogs like this without killing them

Some people do, some people don't. I don't think I'd put up with it. But its your dog not mine.

I agree with your dad. What if the next time it’s child the dog jumps on? Tough spot to be in though, putting one down is never easy.

Ya it sucked we put her down we had alot of good memories with her but i guess we did the right thing cause other dogs and humans safety isnt worth risking by keeping her around

MY females are kenneled together, they never fight not even over food, but when I raise pups I feed them when they start eating dog food all together out of one big pan, and stay there with them with a riding crop any that growl get smacked. if I give them bones I make sure they all get one. I never let any dog fight over dead game while hunting dead means drop it. etc. JMHO
