Peepers are out

Frogs are awake in numbers for the first time tonight. Always loved that about spring. Two young dogs working a track listening to the peepers in the background are a favorite and good for my soul. Happy hunting!

Frogs

Right on we were listening to them Monday night. I was actually surprised as cold as most nights have been. Sure is a good thing to hear! I love winter but I'm ready for spring!

Likewise one of my favorite times of the year to hunt. Coons are concentrated on the water and you can get a lot of work done in a hurry on a young dog if you put them in the woods.

We treed 8 in a couple hours Tuesday night and saw several more sitting up around the frogs.

Bad thing the last one was .63 miles from the truck and it took him a while to finish it.. But he did and did it right.. Made the long walk back out worth it.

Last night was much tougher. Treed one alone 100 yards out of the box and had to go 700 yards to find the second. a looong, winding 700 yards around and between a couple huge sloughs it seemed. Get antsy when it takes 10-15 minutes to get treed after bam, bam, bam.

Overall I have to say March though very cold and clear at night, the coons moved very well and we treed the fire out of them. Lot of 3-5 nights in a couple hours and done.

Enjoy your spring hunting fellas!!

Good to hear!

I am not a coon hunter. However, I have a young female that I bought from Chad Moses down in Tenessee to run on bear and bobcat. Problem is exercise alone does not satisfy her. She's the type of hound that needs HUNTED! So I'm gonna have to follow the sound and let her run some coons!
