Normal for a coonhunter
Couple nights ago me and my buddy went hunting at one of my favorite spots .my two females got a little deep on the second cast then a snow storm came in then when I got to them they had a big boar fighting in a big mud hole the dogs and the coon were both coverd in mud and me two.one the way back to the truck the snow picked up even more I could only see a foot or so .got back home at 130 am and had to work the next day...A normal story for a coon hunter right. The guy's I work and go to church with say things like man your carzy or what makes you want to do that......my point is things that are just normal for us seem to be just plan crazy for people on the outside looking in .but I would not change a thing.....happy hunting everbody..
Chainsaw
I am afraid that you are right about us [coonhunters], long as we see a coon it's a pretty good night. Everything else is just part of the price we pay. Lol. Dave

Skunk
Was having a pretty normal hunt last night, till one of the young pups found a skunk to play with. He came in wagging that thing like a rag doll, covered in blood from head to toe, slinging blood and stink all over us.
Most people just can't figure out why a person likes to hear a dog barking up a tree or any other time! Lol
Chainsaw
If you get on Facebook look up Cody stone he put a post on his page about coon hunting , he pretty much nailed it
My buddy just called me and said I need to clarify some things in my post so this is for him..when I said bore I ment a male coon we don't have pigs around here yet and his dog was in on the bay in the mud hole...thank god for good hunting buddy's we will be telling this story for a long time the snow will be deeper and the coon biger as time goes on lol. Happy hunting everybody
I heard it was 2 foot deep by the time yall made it out..
Why we love hunting
I know like you, spending time in the woods at night listening to the dogs and experiencing whatever happens is very pleasurable. My hunting buddies wife keeps saying when are you two old farts gonna give it up... well we don't plan to. Wallerin through the mud, getting caught in a snowstorm, fallin over a log, getting water in your boots don't stress me out at all its all routine and it makes me feel alive. I have a sister in law that lives in the city of Buffalo... she cant believe I'm not afraid to wander through the woods alone at night. I tell her deep in the woods is safer than her wanderin down the city streets!

Crazy
I've sometimes wondered why we do this, especially on those bad nights. Most of us got hooked on this sport when we were young and kinda dumb.
For years we were in search of a better hunt, better dog, more excitement etc.. Most times now though I enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods and country at night. Plus I feel like that dumb kid when I do it. HA HA HA

Coonhunting
One can not explain exactly why we coonhunt, as we hardly know ourselves. I just know that I enjoy coonhunting. Something about a crisp fall night and a hound running and coming treed that makes me happy. Happy hunting. Dave
