HTX required for Nite Ch?

Why would it not be a good idea that a dog had to pass the requirements of an HTX as well as the Nite Hunt Requirements to obtain the Nite Ch degree, Seems this would put to bed the old "Well he cant tree a coon by himself "argument plus increase participation at the clubs

Posted by Richard Lambert on 03-10-2018 05:39 PM:

Nt Ch degree is for "competition" hounds. They have to compete against other hounds to earn it. HTX degree is for hounds that can tree a coon by themselves. Why would you want to require a hound to earn one in order to get the other? It is like comparing apples to oranges. What if they required a hound to earn a Nt Ch degree before they got an HTX degree? It should be voluntary. If you want to do both with your hound that is excellant. But why tell everyone else they have to also?

htx hunts

they will have a million excuses of why they will not hunt In a htx hunt, but the real reason is they are afraid that their super dog might fail. make sure you guys get back on here with some more excuses.

Took me awhile to stop laughing before I could respond to the above.
You make it sound like HTX is the home of the brave. You wanna know who the real chickenchits are? The ones who won't put their dogs in a cast against 4 dogs drawn at random. You're all worried about a titled dog that won't hunt alone but if you are putting your dog out there, you must know that almost every cast today has dogs split alone all over the place. So not only will they hunt alone, they will tree alone and take the pressure to stay alone, two things your HTX dogs aren't even ask to do.
These guys with their worthless HTX titles keep trying find ways to make them credible. The above idea to force HTX on the Nite Hunt competitors is just another way to push a program that can't seem to stand on it's own because most don't give two chits about it.

didnt really expect the ultra negative replys. I just thought that the harder something was to obtain the more it would mean. I also thought that we were using competition as a way to evaluate coon dogs and this would be just another tool.

Htx

When most competition hunts and HTC hunts are run on buckets, none of the titled mean anything. IMO. Dave

Blaze 2014 was right with his response.at the same time anyone that thinks a nite champion title is always legit is dead wrong .I’ve seen a bunch of nite champions that needed a hammer because they weren’t worth wasting a bullet on .I think both titles can be a indicator that the dog is decent but neither of them is fool proof .I guess I would disagree though on making a dog get htx before a championship degree only because I don’t think it would help hunt numbers and that’s the problem right now.

If any of you get Cooner—

Read the interview that was done on Mr Terry.

I have heard what he said about “reproducing” good coonhounds many times before.

Negativity

Why are people so worried about if a title is legit. If you're breeding based off titles you're doing it all wrong anyway. Titles are for the man that owns the dog. A cross should be based off of ability. If you have a titled dog that's great but, it doesn't have to mean anything to me. If I have a titled dog it shouldn't mean anything to you. If you think your dog is the top dog go put it in a hunt and win the whole thing or contact the owner of said dog and go hunt. If you really think you have the power make a wager and take the man's money. People are way too jealous of what someone else has.

Hate? Not even remotely close. But it does pizz me off when I see someone state the the HTX trials dont draw because nite hunters are afraid. What a crock.

Titles are good for selling pups see how everyone brags about all grand pedigree. Titles are good for stroking ones ego. A dog that trees coons consistantly in Dec, Jan, and Feb gets the title I care about, it's called coondog. Lol. Dave

I read on this forum, everyday, about Nt CH and gr nt ch. that can't tree a coon alone. Wouldn't you think the owners of those would hesitant to enter an HTX?

I read about them everyday too but it seems nobody has one.

If any dog can't tree a coon alone in an hour it should just be culled.

If I have a dog that can tree a coon by itself, I know it. If mine won't tree a coon by itself I know that too. Proving either to anyone else seems kinda petty and silly. Never seen the point in HTX hunts attempting to take the competition out of competition hunting. But if it blows your skirt up have at it I guess...

Posted by MR.RATMAN on 03-10-2018 11:45 PM:

Maybe they hunt alone because they are alligators I don't know, but HTX just don't interest me or several in my area. The closest HTX I have seen advertised was 4 hours away so I would say they aren't to popular to most.

Take your best hound and tell me if you never had a night where you didn't tree a coon in an hour( old track, dens, tap trees, dryholed, coon not moving) and shoot that dog when he comes up empty since you made the statement it should be culled!

As far as HTX I know for a fact some GRNTCH dogs that wont hunt well alone without competition and as far as the good ole boy give you a pass on HTX hunts all the clubs I have been too ran em fair and had to stay hooked and have the coon to pass. Nobody claiming the HTX hunts are the saving grace just having fun and treeing coon. Ones a competition the other is treeing coon in all conditions and staying hooked by themselves for 5 min. and looking at a coon. No excuses here, whatever trips your trigger just have fun at it.

Some people like to compete and some people just like to go out And pleasure hunt. I don't understand why pleasure hunters want to belittle the people that like to compete and the competition hunters want to belittle the guys that just wan to pleasure hunt. I like to do both so everyone belittles me.
