Exclamation Purina Outstanding Coonhound Program

Has everyone seen/read the new format for the Purina Program that is in the December Bloodlines? It is no longer a "race". It is set up to determine the "Best of the Best" UKC Redbone. Isn't that what a lot of us have been looking for? The top 4 point earning Redbones in each of 4 Regions or 16 dogs will be able to compete against each other
heads up in 2 rounds to determine the "Best Redbone" in the country. Oh my goodness, what a hunt that will be. Y'all had better either get your "top dog" ready or come up with some awfully good excuses as to why you can't go. It sounds like it will be an either put up or shut up hunt.

I ain’t read it yet, so I assume the hunts with purina points eligible are same? And “top redbone”? Is this just for bragging rights?

Breed Hunts are added and there will be a cash prize although I would think that bragging rights would be enough. The winner will be "The UKC Purina Outstanding Redbone Coonhound". Is that not enough? It would sure be nice to say that your dog beat the Best of the Best. And if you got beat, it would be by the Best.

I think it’s unlikely anybody will chase that title. $KC has one and can hardly gather 16 to show. But if I accidentally have one earn some purina points, bring it, I’ll even come to your side of the mountains.

Yeah most will think that they don't have a good enough dog so they won't try.

So, who are the Top 4 Redbones in each Region? I guess that we will find out this year.

Oh my goodness

I wished I had Richards time and money!!!

It is in the magazine but I don't know about the website. John, it shouldn't take a lot of money but it is all about priorities. Do you want to drive a fancy vehicle or coon hunt? And when you have worked hard all of your life and get old, you retire. And then you have plenty of time to play.

So far this year retirement (401K) money should have a little extra in it. Like a new truck extra. Hope we can keep this America first thing going until I retire and beyond.
