Where did I go wrong?

All 7 of my kids enjoy hunting but my biggest hunting partner is my 14 yr.old daughter Danielle. Thought I was doing good till the other night. You see this kid never has to be told to do her chores or homework. Pretty much a straight a student if she does get a b she is devastated. She's always polite and we'll mannered and a happy go lucky kid. She wasn't quite a year old when I packed her into her first coon treed and she has thrower a fit to go ever since. You see in this girls eyes it's coon hunting then deer hunting then eating and way down on the list is someday when she's 30 and out of college she wants to meet that special young man. Sounds great so far doesn't dad's? Well here is where it goes wrong . We're standing there in a skid road listening to the dogs work a track up the creek and I was pointing out her pups barking and trying to get her where should could distinguish it from the others and she tells me she figured out what she needed to get. Well I'm thinking she's wanting a new pair of boots or bibs or maybe even a hunting light of her own seeming how she always uses my old light. But no it was worse than that. So anyhow I asked her what she needed to get and she informed me she wanted to get not 1 but 2 REDBONE hounds. Redbone where in the heck did she ever come up with something like that I asked. Her reply was old Dan and little Ann from where the red fern grows was good dogs. My reply was it was a movie and to remember not everything on TV is real. So now again I find myself asking where did I go wrong?

I'll adopt her!

Don't think you went wrong at all. LOL That Red Fern movie has messed up a lot of them but she sounds like a smart Girl and I see a Walker in her future. LOl

Oh she is smart I'm going to just look at like she had a lapse of judgement. .she has already tried talking me into the black & tan for a show dog. She just loves all animals . Man I hate to see her feed bill once dad has no control of What she brings home.

They grow up WAY to fast, Really don't care what she hunts as long as dad is by her side. Mine all all grown up and NONE coon hunt now,WOW how time flies.

I too have been down the same road. I finally gave in and let her pick out a redbone. A month later it was for sale and I have never heard another good word about a red dog from her since. The bad part was she made money off the sale.

Go with it

If she wants a Redbone, get her the best "one" you can find/afford. One is plenty. I'd get a 2 or 3 year old. Have fun and enjoy every hunt. In what seems like a year or 2, she'll be in college and you'll be hunting alone.

This is all to familiar. My 12 year old doughter has been coon crazy since day 1 . Always walker walker walker but about 2 months ago she had a brain laps and started craving a black dog but it gets worse lol we meat a man that has a black stud dog and she fell in love so now we have a pup coming in couple weeks I think it is just a woman thing just a fad but that being said I guess ol dad is gona pack that little black and tan race every night hoping it wil make it for her . And best of all withought joking the stud owner didn't charge her one penny told her she Lord willing and everything went right could pick out which pup she wanted he been real good to her and I want to thank him for it . So you ain't went wrong jut look at like I am x breed all the way lol

Call Dr. Phil without hesitation. LOL I will take her as hunting, she will have blk n tan.
