Hunt Question

I have had this question come up on a bunch of hunts and looking for what others have to say.

2 dogs come treed. Once we are at the tree, Dog A is on 1 tree and Dog B is on another tree. The trees are 20 FT apart and they do have a limb that touches enough for a coon to cross over, However there is only 1 coon seen.

Almost every time people want to Plus both trees because the limbs touch. Giving the benefit of the doubt to the dogs.

However to me there is no doubt 1 dog missed and the other dog didn't. If the dogs worked the track into the tree and the coon crossed over. They all should be on the same tree? Not 2 different trees.

So to me it is not a same tree if only 1 coon is seen. Before you say if it was your dog you would vote to plus it. Actually It has happened twice and my dog was the one without the coon.

Rules State dogs are plussed in the order they were treed.

Why is it a question? Rules say that if 2 trees touch then you count them as 1 tree.

So what did you score your dog as? Did you minus him or plus him up? Go by the rules and don't try to make it What it isnt!

Only statement I have is;

How do you know the dog on the tree without the coon is a track dog and not a layup dog? And the second dog can tree layups which is why he's on the right tree.

Only reason I'm asking this is I know both my dogs can tree coon. Only had the male for roughly 2 months. But in that time I've pulled the dogs off of 1 tree that my old dog treed with him on. And I know the male can tree layups and my old dog can't. And this exact same thing happened the other night while out hunting.

1. My dogs trees were circled if it was a leafless tree I would have taken Minus.

2. Jack Bingham: What rule is that please I'd like to read it myself.

3. So your telling me I should have given my dog the benefit of the doubt even though she missed because the other dog might be a lay up dog and not just a better track dog?

4. Jack Lambert: which rule states you count trees touching as one tree?

You are thinking of it wrong. neither dog is getting the benefit of doubt. Its just simply scored as 1 tree no different than if both dogs were on one tree and the coon crossed into another.

You really want to get confused? Did you know that if 2 trees are touching and considered one tree that a dog can go from one to the other treeing? So he can tree on one tree and move 20 yards to another one as long as they touch. Blew my mind the first time I seen UKC rule on that one.

If they are one tree at the top then they are one tree at the bottom.
What if the coon climbs a tree and 2 dogs trail him in and tree. Then the coon climbs over into the next tree. One of the dogs sees him and moves over to the tree that the coon is in. So when you get there one dog is on the tree that the coon climbed up and the other dog is on the tree that the coon climbed over into. Shouldn't both dogs get plussed?
What if 2 dogs tree on the same tree but the coon is in the next tree over and a big limb connects the two trees. Would you not pluss the 2 dogs. What is the difference between the two scenarios?

I believe the proper way to score it is to make the decision about it being one tree or 2 before you start shining.
