Jim please help
If a dog barks non stop, other than when the dog is on a leash. As soon as you cut them loose it starts barking & chasing the other hounds through the woods. Never stops barking! You can cut them in a field, parking lot, does not matter never stops. How do you scratch him for babbling? Handler demands for proof when ya try. How do you handle this?

How much more proof do you need?

I am no Jim
But being the judge follow the rules, MINUS him. Let him question it, take a vote. If upheld minus and do it again on next drop. If not decided take it back and let MOH decide.
Sorry had scratch him, meant minus.

Babbling is not a scratchable offense, rule 4 (c). You can minus them. Worse since you have 1 min. to call dog after EACH time released.

Babbling is not a scratchable offense, and the only proof you need is a majority vote.

Sounds like an easy one to make the call, doesn't it?
I could give you a little procedure to try to end all question. It's one a caller told me he finally did to get the handler to quit arguing about.
He said they drove back this two-lane to the woods, parked the trucks, and got the dogs out. This was after they had two dogs that would loose bark when cut loose and never shut up on the previous two drops.
Instead of casting the dogs there at the woods, he had them walk the dogs (on leash) back up the two-track away from the woods. He walked them up the lane about 200 yards and stopped. No dog made a peep. Then he told them "here we are boys; now let's turn them around and cast them towards the woods".
The moral of the story...... there was no track evident on that lane with the dogs on leash. But when they turned them back (reversed) that same lane they had just walked the dogs on, miraculously, there was evidence of coon tracks everywhere!
I guess it's what it took for the judge to make his point that the dogs were babbling.
I just can't stand to listen to it I been that way before I knew any better ain't coon hunting to me. If I want a new truck I will just go buy one.

And that is why the club has the right to refuse entry to those who have shown to be problematic, argumentive and such. Maybe the club should consider that route instead of potentially losing entries because of the individual?
There's a lot of good times to be had hunting and participating in nite hunts. Unfortunately, sometimes it also comes with having to deal with problems. The question is; do we have the backbone to stand up for what's right or not? That choice/decision falls on the shoulders of anyone that is involved in situations, whatever it might be. Lord knows, it's not always an easy thing to do.
4. POINTS WILL BE MINUS
Strike Minus:
(c) Dog(s) declared struck and determined to be babbling*.
(d) First offense failure to strike a dog on or before the third bark, after the first minute each time dog(s) is released will result in those points being awarded and minused.
*18. DEFINITIONS
Babbling: When a dog opens three times or has been struck where no track is
evident.
So, a dog is struck in before or after the minute and it's determined to be babbling the dog is minused. After the dog is minused it continues to bark and the minute is up, so the handler has to restrike the dog. If it was continually barking to get minused for babbling it is probably still babbling so technically the dog could be minused again, restruck, minused, restruck, minused until the dog minused out. Is that correct or do you just get the dog once on minus and then restrike it back in for first or next available position and let it ride that the dog is still babbling?
