NO!

When the time is right for being bred a female will start hunting a male instead of a coon. Knowing the right time is not easy so don't take the chance.

So one reply is no and the other one is do it at the right time. How about final cast of world hunt?. But nope it was overlooked. If you can find play by play. Watch it unfold. Sambo shut down after his first tree. This is not being investigated.

I'm sorry if you took my answer to say you can hunt a dog in heat on a nite hunt, that's not what I was saying. I was saying it's not smart to hunt a female in heat at any time.

Rules say you can not hunt a female in heat.

I'm going to clarify a smidgen......... When hunting a female in heat you subject yourself to getting the dog scratched for: {bitches smelling strong enough to attract other dogs....}.

You might compare it to hunting an ill dog. Good chance he might he scratched if he get's in a fight.

Rule says females smelling strong enough to attract dogs. Sounds like if nobody is bothering with her you're good to go.

The rule doesn't say if nobody is bothering her. It says if she's smelling strong enough to attract dogs.

If nobody's bothering her she's obviously not smelling strong enough to attract dogs lol. What's the difference

Well if they aren't bothering her, then obviously she isn't smelling strong enough to attract dogs.
There is no rule against hunting a bitch in heat, the rule is against hunting a bitch smelling enough to attract males.

Why would you not just make the rule, no hunting a dog that shows any sign of being in heat? Wouldn’t that make more sense and cut out most of the arguements. Just curious. To me it seems like that would be the common sense approach. Jmo

No because that opens the door for trying to scratch any female that looks the least bit different then "normal". The only way to decide if one is smelling strong enough to attract dogs is if she's actually attracting dogs lol

One time I had that issue with a couple fellows trying to scratch my female saying my female was in heat. Only issue was that female had been spayed. Told them their dogs must like eating sh!t as all their doing is smelling her a$$. LOL

That's exactly why the rule is what it is. No harm no foul. Mind you if two males were attracted to her there must be some kind of issue. Even if one had an infection or something if they are attracting other dogs I see where it was an issue.

So with no dogs hunted while in heat rule, wouldn’t it be less likely guys would bring a dog in heat? The way it is now, you bring her and screw up the hunt for everyone. Even if u put her in the truck. Once its on them male dogs mind its hard for some to just forget it. ?? I just dont understand why someone lnow ing shes in heat and knowing it will have an affect on others would bring that dog to a competition hunt. Its absolutely an unfair advantage for that female IMO.

I was on a cast of all females one nite where all 3 stopped and two were sniffing the thirds ass.
