2017 Oklahoma Youth State Championship November 4

Colgate, Oklahoma at the Coal County Fairgrounds. Activities start at 10am with a UKC sanctioned water race. There will be a Treeing contest, coon in a bucket contest and a coon squalling contest to follow the water race. UKC sanctioned bench show @ 3:00 & the Nite Hunt deadline at 6:30. Bring the kids and grandkids! Lots of prizes, 2 dog boxes, 10 lights and plenty of other prizes too. Plaques for all the winners. We will need plenty of judges for the hunt so anyone with nothing to do next Saturday come on down and help make this a success for the kids.

Picture above hunt participants right before draw out, kids of all ages ready to hit the woods.
Wow what a great weekend in Oklahoma, the weather was perfect and I think all the youth had a great time, even those just young at heart.
They kicked the morning off with the Water Race which had 39 entries, next up was the Treeing Contest with almost 50 dogs were entered, then the Coon in a Bucket Contest which was a little chaotic but the kids had a great time! Tar and I were then over ran with Bench Show entries, the show had 51 dogs. Following the show the kids then had a coon squalling contest and man can they ever make some noise! Last but not least 31 youth competed for the title of Oklahoma Youth State Champion.
I will get all the results posted soon and some pics of the winners.

Wow great numbers. I may be over thinking this but what is the coon in the bucket thing lol

This year the Oklahoma Federation of Coonhunters will be running a Youth Series. Last year they implemented a handler of the year race for both adults and the kids winners points of each of their events were tallied for the year to earn the top spot, overall all winners were given an extra 20 points and reserve were given an extra 10 points all other points were accumulated from UKC point system that were awarded for each event. This year 4 clubs that host YEP events will be sending in their results for the youth race and then youth may acquire additional points for participation in the regular OKFOCH events for the handler of the year CHAMPION in both bench shows and nite hunts. Watch here and on our Facebook page for details and dates. By participating in one of the club's YEP events this will allow the youth to not only accumulate points in the OKFOCH race, youth will also be accumulating points for UKC's Spotlight Series.

I had a blast during the night hunt. It was also nice to meet the legend(myth) himself yadkintar, i just wonder if it was at any way related that my cast treed a possum with you being the master of hounds.

Lol well maybe !! One of the most enjoyable hunts I been to in a long time now people know what I mean by back in the day. Made it hard on me in the bench show there will be some of them win the world show I guarentee it. My hats of to everybody that made my job easyer can't wait till next year.

Good ole family fun still has a huge place in today's world I am proud of each and everyone of you.
