Hound almost barked out.

I got an 8 month old pup 3 days ago. She was really hoarse the evening I picked her up. He said it was from where she was barking at the barn cats. Which is what she was doing when I pulled in. She has a mouth that'll bust a 4yr olds ear drums, super loud!! I gave her a few days to relax & let her get used to me a bit before taking her out tonight. I didn't have her out on a cage coon for 20 mins & she's almost back to a squeak now. What's the best thing I can do for her? Is there anything I can give her to help or does she just need some off time?

Rest would be the best for her may some prednisone or another steroid to help her vocal cords heal. But keeping her quite is probally you're best bet and hope the damage isn't already done

YELLOW MUSTARD, 2 CC DOWN THROAT, 2 OR 3 DAYS AND SHE SHOULD BE FINE IF YOU DO IT SOON ENOUGH OTHERWISE SHE COULD BE PERMINETLY DAMAGED

I've had good luck with a table spoon of honey for 7 days.

An anti inflammatory and time. Thats all that will help, all the rest of this stuff will not do a thing for her. Its like eating chicken noodle soup for a cold. Eat it for a week and your cold is gone. The week is what cured it not the soup. Lay her up and keep her quite for a week or longer. Pups with big mouths are much more susceptible to loosing there mouth then one with a sorry mouth, and after they start doing it they can loose it easier each time..

PREDNISONE. 5MG TABLET
10 days 1 tablet each day.
5 days 1/2 tablet each day.
5 days 1/4 tablet each day.
Always do the complete treatment, even if their voice improves before you finish the 20 day treatment.
You usually can get it from a vet. It is a steroid, not very expensive.
I have had good luck with it.
If nothing else works, try this. You have to get it from a vet.
